Summary: This course will acquaint eighth grade
students with a distance learning course in literature utilizing the Vtel
labs. The
course will focus on Mark Twain's novel, Tom Sawyer. It is
hoped that the course will encourage participation in a future
distance learning honors English literature course throughout grades 9-12. This initial Tom Sawyer unit will
consists of six weekly sessions of fifty minutes each. Students
will use various means of electronic communication between sessions.
Written assignments will be submitted electronically.
Prerequisites: Students will need an e-mail account, and they will need to have attended an orientation session that covers the basics of distance learning expectations and use of the VTel lab.
