  Archeologist's Tools

Part II

trowels

These trowels are very important to an archeologist's work.  Instead of digging down in the ground with a large shovel, the dirt is scraped away a little bit at a time.  The trowels make it easy to do that.  Sometimes the scraping is only one half of a centimeter deep at a time.  It takes very careful digging to make sure that nothing from the past is destroyed.
