  Archeologist's Tools

Part II

markers

You probably recognize these markers.  They are permanent markers just like the ones that you use in school.  When an artifact is found, cleaned up, and stored, it is labeled with a number with a permanent marker.  That number tells where it was found.  It's sort of like a name and address for it.  Then later, an archeologist can look at the artifact's number and tell where it was found at the dig site..
